24/10/2007
This was the date that I made a decision to not compete in 2008. Take a year out and concentrate on adding some quality lean mass. I've achieved a good level of condition in order to place high in competitions. But my latter comps stamped the fact that I need more muscle on my frame to compete with the elite lightweights. Also to spot my weak points and hopefully bring them up. This will improve my symmetry and give the illusion of the V Taper that I lack.

Basically, take a step back, analyse my physique, and work harder than a 6 year old Chinese boy imaking Nike trainers in the never-talked-about sweatshops! For me, I'm my own worst critic, so nothing on my physique is satisfying.

My biggest flaws are my delts. Get them bigger/wider to give the illusion of a thinner waist, because that is currently thick. Back development - I need wider lats. Stronger, fuller chest. Harder striated glutes. Lower back needs tightening up. Basically my midsection is a joke. I hold everything so that it resembles a blueberry water park ride.

Now it's time to learn what works for my body. The plan is to periodise my training in basic compound movements. Pressingg and pulling as heavy as possible. When I come to a plateau - recognise it and implement slight changes, which could be anything from exercise choices, less weight, more reps, stricter controlled movements, advanced techniques like partials, pause methods, strip sets, trisets...the list goes on. Even down to my rest periods - make them shorter or longer.

Nutrition to be kept simple. My nutrition diet plans will be posted in another section of my website. Already there are my meal plans for previous comps. I will be regularly updating my meal plans giving reasons for choices and changes.

I don't want to hide nothing. However, what works for me will not mean it will work for you. It's all about keeping it simple, basic and consistent.

Right now, I just want to thank and show respect to the key individuals who advised, supported and were extremely patient with me for my best competitive year to date - 2007. My beautiful wife Ellie. Whenever I lost it, seemed upset, was moany - basically when I was a dick - it was my frustrations at how I was looking - absolutely nothing that you did. It was my failings, my mistakes that pissed me off, and it was almost uncontrollable to keep it inside me.

NPA Finals, City College, Coventry, UK
Last show of the 2007 season. Peak condition not reached. Did not place. 10 competitors on stage. Finished 8th.
There were 10 of us on stage. Top 6 would place. I didn't. In fact I came 8th. What went wrong? Holiday in Cyprus? Even though I trained every day, relaxed, ate very well - obviously too well - sun sea.

My final week I may have fucked up my in my water and sodium manipulation... Or basically, my body was too stubborn to get in a better shape I displayed six weeks ago. Body went into shut down after 44 weeks of dieting and 5 shows.

Anyway. If you want to look back at it as an anti-climax then so be it. But, from last year when I planned my on-coming year, I surpassed my every goal. I won my first competition. I got into the best shape of my life.I got my name out there on the competitive circuit. I got sponsored by REFLEX.

Basically, amongst other positive things like being in magazines - we done well. Never complacent though.

Cyprus Vacation
Thought I would share some of my snaps from my recent holiday in Cyrpus. You have to take a break sometimes!

My life for 15 days can be summarised by this photo. Quality food in abundance. Sun. Sea. Family. Done.

Food. Wife. Quality!

Our final home cooked meal, prepared by me for my family. Quality yet sad.

Always look better in the shadows...

Me and Sias - funnily enough, the owner of Sias Gym.

Aggi Dulson...world's apart, still sharing the same passion.

Most of my mornings before my babies woke up - I was here.

Random flex pose in an item of clothing which is scarcely seen on my body - a vest

NPA South-East Championship Qualifer, Elgiva Theatre, Chesham

Under 70kg Lightweight. 3rd place achieved.

As far as progression goes, this look, condition, package, presentation and shape is the best I have achieved in my competitions and life so far. Never complacent.
I came third, but the standard I was up against was fierce. If I came in the same shape as the comp I won, I would've been fifth or sixth, I reckon.

29/07/2007
BNBF Central Qualifier, The Albans Arena, St Albans.

Under 72kg Mens Class. 1st place achieved.

22/07/2007
NPA South-West Qualifier, Queens College Theatre, Taunton

Under 70kg Lightweight. 2nd place achieved.

I achieved second place - the only problem was that there was only two of us. Positively, there was only one point from the judges that seperated us. Previously I have been beaten by this competitor (Richard Walker) by a large margin.

So it shows that I made up ground, and if progression is being achieved, then no need to stop. Ever.
